The vessel had been lost in the North Sea. All hands were safe. The LEADER sprung a leak after being struck by a heavy sea on Friday last and had to be abandoned. The Grimsby trawl smack CORSAIR arrived in the fish dock on Monday evening when the master and owner (Mr S M KENDALL) reported that about nine o clock on Saturday morning when about 190 miles from Spurn, he sighted a vessel flying signals of distress. Upon bearing down on the vessel he discovered the Norwegian brig ELIZABETH of Christiania in a sinking condition. He lowered his boat and succeeded in rescuing four of the crew. The captain (PETERSEN) and one hand were washed overboard and drowned. The four rescued men were landed at Grimsby last night, the vessel was coal laden, from Seaham to Chistiansand. On Wednesday Mr JOHN COLLINSON, skipper of the fishing smack REEHAB, owned by the Grimsby Ice Company, now lying in the Alexandra Dock, reports that on Friday night, while in the North Sea about 200 miles from Spurn, a heavy sea struck the vessel. The crew were engaged in reefing the mainsail at the time and an apprentice named GEORGE BRAHAN, 20 years of age was crushed between the bight and the capstan. The vessel at once made for Hull, where she arrived this morning, and BRAHAN was taken to the infirmary. BIRTHS INSULL - December 11th, the wife of the Rev.
