Welton le Marsh (or Welton in the Marsh) is a village and parish about 6 miles east-north-east of Spilsby and 5 miles south of Alford. The parish covers about 2,570 acres and includes the hamlet of Boothby.

- The village is located just under a mile north off of the A158, the old Horncastle to Skegness road, right where the A1028 trunk road breaks off and heads north.

- Boothby Hall is located in the hamlet of Boothby, about a mile east of Welton-le-Marsh.

- This place was an ancient parish in Lincoln county and became a modern Civil Parish when those were established.
- The parish was in the Wold division of the ancient Candleshoe Wapentake in the East Lindsey district in the parts of Lindsey.
- In March, 1888, this Civil Parish was enlarged by gaining a part of Skendleby Civil Parish.
- In April, 1935, this Civil Parish was enlarged by gaining 33 acres from Candlesby Civil Parish.
- Kelley's 1913 Directory of Lincolnshire shows the parish, perhaps erroneously, as in the South Lindsey division of the county. The 1900 edition does the same.

- Bastardy cases would be heard in the Spilsby petty session hearings every other Monday.
- In 1726 Mr. Thomas INGRAM left a yearly rent-charge of 10s to be distributed to the poor at Easter in bread.
- At the enclosure of the Common Lands, the poor were allocated 5 acres rent free.
- As a result of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act, the parish became part of the Spilsby Poor Law Union.
