Thorganby is both a small village and parish which sits in a valley of the Wolds about 9 miles north-east of Market Rasen and 7 miles south-east of Caistor. Swinhope parish sits to the south-east and Hatcliffe parish to the north. The parish covers about 1,600 acres.

- This place was an ancient parish in Lincolnshire and became a modern Civil Parish when those were established.
- The parish was in southern divison of the ancient Walshcroft Wapentake in the West Lindsey district in the parts of Lindsey.
- Thorganby has a Parish Council, but I could find no information on file for it.
- Today's district governance is provided by the West Lindsey District Council.
- As a result of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act, this parish became part of the Caistor Poor Law Union.
- Bastardy cases would be heard on the 1st Tuesday each month at the Market Rasen petty session hearings.
