This village and parish lies about 3 miles northwest of Spilsby. Partney parish forms the eastern border and Aswardby parish lies to the north. The parish covers only about 750 acres.

- In 1913, Colonel Charles Arthur SWAN, 3rd Batn. Lincs Regt., was resident at Sausthorpe Hall.
- In 1930, Major Frank CONWAY-GORDON was resident at the Old Hall.
- In 1930, Colonel Charles Arthur SWAN was resident at Sausthorpe Hall.
- In 1930, Lt.-Colonel Charles Francis Trollot (or Trollope) SWAN was also resident at Sausthorpe Hall. There is a Charles F. T. SWAN birth registered in the Spilsy Reg. Dist. in the first quarter of 1888. His father, Charles Arthur SWAN, was High Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1897. Charles F. T. SWAN was born 25 Nov. 1887, most likely in Sausthorpe.

- This place was an ancient parish in Lincoln county and became a modern Civil Parish when those were established.
- The parish was in the ancient Hill Wapentake (or Hill Hundred) in the East Lindsey district in the parts of Lindsey.
- Some 20th century Directories place the parish in the South Lindsey district of the county.

- Bastardy cases would be heard in the Spilsby petty session hearings every other Monday.
