Description and Travel

Ranby is both a village and parish in the Wolds, bounded on the east by the River Bain. The parish sits about 7 miles north-west of Horncastle and 7.5 miles east from Wragby parish. The parish covers about 1,290 acres.

Military History

In 1930, Lt. Col. Joseph Ernest MUNBY lived in this parish. He was the author of "A History of the 38th Welsh Division," Publ. by Rees in 1920 and he had been an officer in the King's Own Royal Yorkshire Light Infantry.
