Orby
Orby is both a village and a parish that lies west of the Orby Marsh about nine miles east of Spilsby and five miles west of Skegness just north of the A158 trunk road. Burgh le Marsh parish lies to the south, Willoughby parish to the north, and Gunby parish to the west. The parish covers just over 2,000 acres.
The village itself sits on a small rise above the marshland. If you are planning a visit:

- The Anglican parish church is dedicated to All Saints.
- The church was originally built around the end of the 13th century.
- The church seats about 120.

- The Anglican parish register dates from the year 1725.

- The LFHS has published several marriage indexes and a burial index for the Calcewaith and Candleshoe Deanery to make your search easier.
- The Wesleyan Methodists built a chapel here in 1837 to hold about 80 persons. This chapel closed circa 1998. For more on researching these chapel records, see our non-conformist religions page.

- RAF Orby opened in 1941 as a "ground control intercept" (CGI) radar station. It operated as a subsidiary unit of RAF Digby.
- During the war the site operated as a satellite bomb storage dump for RAF Market Stainton.
- RAF Orby closed in August, 1945.
- The site was used for many years as a stock car racetrack.
- This place was an ancient parish in Lincoln county and became a modern Civil Parish when those were established.
- The parish was in the Marsh division of the ancient Candleshoe Wapentake in the East Lindsey district in the parts of Lindsey.

- In March, 1888, the parish boundaries were changed with some land going to Addlethorpe Civil Parish and gaining some land from Ingoldmells Civil Parish.
- Bastardy cases would be heard in the Spilsby petty session hearings every other Monday.
- After the Poor Law Amendment Act reforms of 1834, the parish became part of the Spilsby Poor Law Union.

- A Council School was built here in 1836 and rebuilt in 1874.
