- The Anglican parish church was dedicated to Saint Luke.
- The present church dates from the 15th century.
- The church was rebuilt in 1773 and again in 1873.

This parish and village is about 5 miles north of Lincoln parish and city and just south of Scampton parish. The parish covers about 1,900 acres.

- This place was an ancient parish of Lincolnshire and became a Civil Parish when those were established.
- The parish was in the ancient Lawress Wapentake in the West Lindsey district in the parts of Lindsey.
- Today's district governance is provided by the West Lindsey District Council.
- Bastardy cases would be heard in the Lincoln (Bail and Close) petty session hearings on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month.
- The poor of the parish had the benefit of Monson's almshouses at Burton by Lincoln.
- As a result of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act, the parish became part of the Lincoln Poor Law Union.
