Ashby by Partney is a village and parish which lies 128 miles north of London, just 2 miles east of Spilsby and 1.5 miles north-east of Halton Holgate. The parish covers 1,025 acres. The River Lymn (Steeping River) runs through the parish. The Lady Wath Beck drains to the south-east of the village.
- By automobile to Ashby by Partney village, although there are country roads out of Spilsby, the most expeditious route may be via the A158 which swings north out of Spilsby and curls east. Just after the junction with the A16 trunk road, turn south for Ashby.

- This place was an ancient parish in Lincoln county and became a modern Civil Parish when those were established.
- The parish was in the Wold division of the ancient Candleshoe Wapentake in the East Lindsey district in the parts of Lindsey.
- This parish was reformed in the 1900s as "Ashby with Scremby Civil Parish". The citizens have elected to forgo a formal parish council and instead have periodic Parish Meetings to discuss civic and political issues.

- As a result of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act, the parish became part of the Spilsby Poor Law Union.
