RAVENSTONE OR RAUENSTON as it was formally known is mentioned in the Domesday book.  The earliest records are of the church (date back to 1294 when one is listed on the taxation pole of Pope Nicholas.  It is assumed that the present church is built on the on those ruins in 1323, that is the earliest record of the of a rector in the parish whom it is recalled was installed to replace a predecessor.  In 1974, the church celebrated its 650th celebrations.
