We added 125,287 England records to the FreeCEN database on 15 Dec 2017

Last updated:

The FreeCEN project began in 1999 with the aim of making high quality transcriptions of the 19th century England, Wales and Scotland censuses freely available in a searchable database.

FreeCEN is under the trusteeship of Free UK Genealogy which also includes the FreeBMD and FreeREG projects — all these run on a 100% volunteer basis. Many thousands of volunteers from all over the world have contributed their time and efforts to make the census records freely available.

If you have a general enquiry about the FreeCEN project, or would like to volunteer as a transcriber, please contact Brenda Bowers.
