St. John's is 14th C. It has a central tower, with Dec style bell-openings, battlements and a spire. The tower arches are chamfered without capitals and with squints to the north and south that give views of the altar. The rest of the church, consisting of nave, north and south aisles, and chancel, was mostly rebuilt in 1858 in Early English style. There are wall tablets in the church dedicated to the Rev Arthur Mansfield; Thomas Johnson and his wife Martha; Alfred Ward and his wife, also named Martha, the daughter of the aforementioned Thomas Johnson; Samuel Sperrin and his wife Charlotte, Louisa Sperrin, Celia Sperrin, Martha York Sperrin and John York Sperrin.
