The church walls have been much reduced in size. Old abandoned churchs were often quarried for their stone.
The owners of nearby farm buildings and dwelling houses saw old churches as a ready source of cut stone.
This short stretch of wall shows the quality of the stone that has been taken, apart from that, all that remains is rubble.
But in many cases even rubble would be used to make animal enclosures and drystane dykes to divide up fields.
