Benjamin Lutton worked in copperworks in Maryland before arriving in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to work in the iron mills. He married Jane Perrine Lutton, his brother James's widow, in 1828 and raised a total of ten children (two of his brothers and eight of his own). His story, along with genealogical information on his family, are the focus of this book, however, the story weaves into it the history of Pittsburgh, Pa. Additional material on the descendants of Benjamin and Jane as well as some corrections to the original records have been included in this record.

Chiefly a record of some of the ancestors and descendants of Aker Edward Litton. He was born 24 Feb 1876 in Russell County, Virginia. He married Nora Ellen Fink ca. 1899. Ellen died ca. 1915 and Aker married Viola Rose 8 July 1916. They lived in Virginia. He died 7 Mar 1959 in Miami, Florida. Aker was the father of twelve known children. Ancestors lived in Maryland, Virginia, and elsewhere. Descendants lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, California, and elsewhere.

Ancestors include: Caleb Litton (b ca. 1668) and Grace Burton (b ca. 1678) -- John Richard Litton (b ca. 1726) and Sarah Wilcoxen (b ca. 1728) -- John Jackson Litton (1847-1937) and Sarah Ann Garrett (1852- 1931) -- James Fullen Litton (1818-1881) and Margaret Shoemaker Litton (1824-1897) -- John Whitly Litton (1775-1853) and Sarah Pearl Fullen (1771-1843) -- Solomon Caleb Litton, Sr. (1751-1844) and Martha Duncan Sharp (1756-1821) -- and others. "Michael Horine, b. 175_ d. 1810, son of Frederick Horine I. (1) (b. 1715 d. 17__) was born in one of the German provinces bordering on the River Rhine. He with his two brothers, Jacob and George and two sisters came to America in the early 1770's. They are said to have landed in Baltimore and were supposed to have lived there for a time in Maryland (probably in Frederick County, where an earlier family of Horines had settled about 25 years before). Later it is probable that Michael lived in Pennsylvania for a time previous to his removal to Kentucky in 1780."--P. [1]. He purchased land in Jefferson and Fayette counties. In 1801 or 1802 the family moved to Missouri and purchased land Jefferson and Washington Counties. "Michael Horine was married in Maryland or Pennsylvania to Suzanna Chapel (b. 176_ d. 182_). He was killed in 1810 while on a hunting trip near Petosi, Washington, Missouri. Descendants lived in Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Iowa, Michigan, Colorado, California and elsewhere.

John Billingsley (1587?-1659) of Shropshire, England moved to Holland in the 1630s, possibly for religious reasons. His children settled in Nansemond Co., Virginia about 1649. Descendants settled throughout Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Iowa, Montana, et al. Samuel Billingsley (1852-1932) of Round Prairie Township, Jefferson Co., Iowa, married Mary Agnes Hulse (d. 1941) in 1875.

Descendants of John Selvage (1800-1841) and his brother, Miles (1806-1888). John married Susan Klingler in 1820 in Batavia, Ohio and died in Clermont County, Ohio. Miles was born at Williamsburg, Whitley County, Kentucky. He married Mary Duncan before 1833 and later Mary A. Jones in 1881 at Scott County, Tennessee. He died in Whitley County, Kentucky. Descendants lived in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas, Indiana, Nebraska, Colorado and elsewhere.

William Hope Hooper (1853-1909) married Mary Louise Dudley, and later they were divorced. In 1883 he married Mary Constance Carus-Wilson. He immigrated from England to Runnymede, Kansas in 1889, and sent for Mary Constance in 1890. A grandson, William Thornton Hope Hooper (b.1917), married (1) Wilma Grant and (2) Virginia Sharp in 1957, and had three sons by the second marriage. Descendants and relatives lived in Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Kentucky and elsewhere. Hooper ancestors lived in England and are shown back to the late 1700s. Sharp ancestors and relatives lived in Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

Descendants lived in many states but the majority lived in the Shenandoah Valley or within 100 miles of the old homeplace near Quicksburgh, Virginia.

Joseph Paul Robles (1817-1907) was born at Malaga, Spain. He left his ship at Savannah, Georgia, in 1832 and migrated to Alachua County, Florida, in 1833. He married Mary Ann Garrison (1827-1886), daughter of Michael and Mary Zettrouer Garrison and a native of Effingham County, Georgia, in 1840. They had ten children, 1842-1869. Joseph and Mary Ann Robles died at Tampa, Florida. Record chiefly contains documentation about Joseph Paul Robles, his son, Joseph Paul Robels, Jr. (1847-1951) and their families. It traces line of descent to Mary Geraldine Griffin. She was born in 1936 at Miami, Florida, the daughter of Jerry Vasco and Daisy Nadine Childers Griffin and the granddaughter of Charles W. and Edith L. Robles Childers. She married Fred W. Lytton (b. 1934) in 1957 at Miami, Florida. They had three children, 1959-1966. Children and grandchildren live in Florida and elsewhere.
