"Max  C. Appleby, born Sept 30, 1923 to Carl and Dorothy Burden Appleby on the family farm, eleven miles Northeast of Cedar Vale, Kansas.   He graduated from Round Mound grade school and then in 1942 from the Cedar Vale Memorial High School.  He entered College at Pittsburg State Teachers College, Pittsburg, Kansas, a short time before enlisting in the Navy during World War II. 

On October 24, 1945, he married Mary Ruth Pesch at the First Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.  Following his honorable discharge from the Submarine Service in June of 1946, he entered the Kansas University at Lawrence, Kansas, graduating February 1, 1948.  On that same date, he accepted a position with Dun & Bradstreet and continued a lifetime career with that Company until retiring as Vice President and Regional Manager in 1989.  

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth, and one son, Mark C. Appleby.  The oldest son, Raymond Craig Appleby preceded him in death.  Funeral services will be handled by Mount Moriah Funeral Home, South Kansas City, Missouri.  Burial to take place at the Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri."
