Connecticut, like most New England States does not have County Governments, and with this all vital records are kept in the local towns. Records from 1890 to the present are also keep by the Department of Public Health in Hartford. The Records at the Department of Public Health are not available now due to being microfilmed. All request should be sent to the Town Clerk of the Town where someone was Born, Married or Died.
Below is a list of the addresses of all Town Clerks in Litchfield County and their telephone numbers. Remember to be patient when you write for records as most towns in this part of Connecticut are small and only have one person working in the office. At certain times of the year they are real busy and could take longer to get to your request. You may want to call ahead of time to see if they have the records that you are looking for, as at times some have been lost, like in the Rev. War or the War of 1812 when the British Visited the State.
