     Eudes, princeps d' Aquitaine was born circa 646.1 He was the son of Boggis, duc d' Aquitaine and Oda des Francs.1,2 Eudes, princeps d' Aquitaine married Valtrude des Francs Ripuaires, daughter of Walchigise des Francs Ripuaires, before 664.1 Eudes, princeps d' Aquitaine defeated the advancing Moors this winter before the walls of Toulouse with an Aquitainian-Frankish force between 720 and 721.3 He banished the Moslems from Gaul to Spain in 721.4 He attacked by a Moslem army under the command of Abd-er-Rahman, Governor of Spain, who crossed the Pyrenees at the head of an immense army, overcame Duke Eudes, and advanced as far as the Loire, pillaging and burning as he went. In 731.4,5 He unable to stop a Moslem advance under Emir Abd-ar-Rahman (not of the Umayyad this early! - rbs) into Burgundy where the latter destroyed an army led by Eudes outside Bordeaux and sacked the city, and also saw the destruction of Autun, in 731.4,5 He witnessed the marriage of Othmar the Muslim and Lampade d' Aquitaine in 731; "Duke Eudes, unable to resist them, at length contented himself by negotiating with them, and to Othmar, one of their chiefs, he gave the hand of his daughter." This alliance would serve to secure Eudes southern frontier.4,3 Eudes, princeps d' Aquitaine fled north to ask Charles, his Carolingian rival, for assistance.5 He was a witness where Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum disappointed with Eudes of Aquitaine for comprimising with the Moslems, but did move south to attack the Moors in Aquitaine in 731.5 Eudes, princeps d' Aquitaine was a witness where Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum defeated the Saracens and stopped the Moslem conquest of Europe at Tours in October 732 at the area outside of Tours.6 Princeps of Aquitaine before 735. Eudes, princeps d' Aquitaine died in 735. "Dying undisturbed" despite the Moors on one side, the Franks on the other.1,5

     Pelayo Iº, rey de Asturias was "Hijo del duque Fáfila, hijo a su vez de Chindasvinto."1 He was born circa 690. He was the son of Fáfila, duque de Cantabria. Pelayo Iº, rey de Asturias was possibly a page member of the royal bodyguard of the Visigothic king Roderick, and may have been of royal blood himself.2 Islamic Conquest of Spain, Visigoths overthrown. In 711.3 He survived the defeat of the Visigoths by the Moors in 711 at the Battle of Guadalete, Medina Sidonia.2 He was returned to his native Asturias where he led a revolt of Asturians and Visigothic refugees against the Moorish governor Munuza between 711 and 717.2 He escaped from Moorish captivity in 717. Kingdom of Austurias and Galicia created by Visigoths who defeated the Moors in battle and established a Christian Kingdom. In 718 at Covadonga, Spain. He was a nobleman of the Visigoths, and elected as the first King of the Austurias, the oldest of the Christian Kingdoms, and the region from whence resistence to the Arabs first erupted, in 718. He gained independence from the moors and set up a tiny kingdom with its capital at Cangas de Onís in 718.2 He began what was to be the start of the Christian Reconquest of Spain in 718. King of Asturias and Galicia at Spain between 718 and 737.2,3 He married Gaudiosa (?) before 720. Pelayo Iº, rey de Asturias defeated a Muslin military column with a small group of Christians (whom Arab chronicles described as "thirty wild donkeys"), providing the origin of the medieval legend of the "Reconquest," interwoven with Neo-Gothic strains, placing the birth of the movement of resistance with this battle at Covadonga in 722 at batalla de Covadonga.4 He died circa 737. It was said that he was killed by a bear while hunting.2,5,6

      Basileus Rhomaiôn Leo III "the Isaurian" of Byzantium first to style himself Basileus Rhomaiôn (emperor of the Romans) on his seals. He was born between 675 and 680 at Germanicia (Mar'ash), Commagene, Syria.2 He was taken by his parents (who apparently were prosperous) to Mesembria circa 685 at Thrace, Byzantine Empire.2 He assisted Justinian II in the recovery of his throne, and was rewarded with the appointment to the prestigious rank of spatharius (attendant) in 705.2 He was sent to perform a perilous mission among the Alani on the remote eastern frontier, by Justinian who no longer trusted him and anticipating that he would never return, between 705 and 713.2 He received an appointment from Anastasius II as commander of the Anatolikon, the largest theme, or military-district army, between 713 and 715 at Asia Minor.2 He succeeded Theodosius III to the imperial title in 717. Emperor of the East at Byzantine Empire between 717 and 741.3,4 He married Maria (?) before 718.1 Basileus Rhomaiôn Leo III "the Isaurian" of Byzantium was co-ruler with basileus Constantine V Copronymus of Byzantium; co-Emperor.5 Basileus Rhomaiôn Leo III "the Isaurian" of Byzantium died on 18 June 741 at Constantinople, Byzantine Empire.2 Basileus Rhomaiôn Leo III "the Isaurian" of Byzantium was buried in the Church of the Holy Apostles, Constantinople, Byzantine Empire.2

Also called Karl Martell German.6 Also called Charles Martel.7,8,9,10 He was born circa 688.9,6 He was the son of Pippin II "le Gros", dux Austrasii, maiorus domus and Alberda , a concubine of Pepin II.1,2,3,4,5 "Carolus, Pipini filius ex Alberda uxore, tenuit regnum Francorum annis 27."11 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum married Chrothrudis de Trèves, daughter of Liutwin "der Heilige", Erzbischof von Trier and Willigarde von Bayern, between 715 and 725; His 1st.12,10,13,14 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum was cast into prison by his mother-in-law, Plectrude, on the accession by her grandson Theodoald after 21 October 714.9 He associated with Chrothais , a concubine between 715 and 720.12 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum excaped from prison and put himself head of the national party of Austrasia before 716.9 He was defeated by the Frisian King, Radbod, in 716 at Cologne, Austrasia.9 He surprised and defeated the Neustrians in 716 at Amblève near Malmédy.9 Annals of Monte Fernando 717: "Karolus filius Pipini fit dominus."5 He was a witness where Chlothacharius IV des Francs proclaimed King of Austrasia by Charles Martel, who reserved for himself the title Mayor of the Palace of Austrasia, in 717.9 Duke of Franks between 717 and 741.1 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum defeated the Neustrians a second time, and pursuing the Neustrians as far as Paris, on 21 March 717 or 28 May 717 at Vincy, near Cambrai.9,1 He forced Plectrude to surrender her power and restore to him the wealth of his father before 718 at Cologne, Austrasia.9 He proclaimed Chlotaire IV as King of Austrasia while reserving the title Mayor of the Palace for himself in 718.9 He attacked the Saxons who had invaded Austrasia and laid to waste their country to the banks of the river Weser after 718.9 Mayor of the Palace at Frankish Kingdoms between 718 and 741.9,15,16 He defeated the combined army of the Neustrians and their allies the Aquitainians before 719 at Soissons.9 He proclaimed Chilperic II as King of all the Franks on the death of Chilperic's brother Chlotair IV in 719. In this action his authority was endorsed by the Neustrians and Aquitainians.9 He seized Western Friesland, on the death of their Duke Radbod, without any great resistance on the part of the Frisians, who had taken possession of it on the death of Pepin in 719.9 He was a witness where Chilpericus II, rex Francorum, vir inluster acknowledged as King of all the Franks by Charles Martel in 719.9 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum proclaimed Theuderic IV, still a minor, as King of all the Franks in 720.17,9 He launched a second expedition against the Saxons in 720.9 He was a witness where Theudericus IV, rex Francorum, vir inluster appointed successor to the Frankish Kingdom by Charles Martel in 720.9 Duke of the Franks between 721 and 741.4,2 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum accorded St. Boniface (Winfrid), the great apostle of Germany, protection in 723. This protection was all the more salutary as the saint himself explained to his old friend, Daniel of Winchester, that without it he could neither administer his church, defend his clergy, nor prevent idolatry. "Hence Charles Martel shares, to a certain degree, the glory and merit of Boniface's great work of civilization."9 He brought to submission Raginfrid of Neustria in Angers, restoring the Frankish Monarchy as it had been under his father Pepin, in 724.9 He entered Bavaria against the ever more independent Agilolfing dukes in 725.9 He associated with Sunnichild von Bayern, daughter of Herzog von Bayern Tassilo II von Bayern and Imma, Abbess of Nonnberg, in 725 at Bavaria; His 2nd. "He also brought thence the Princess Suanehilde, who seems to have become his mistress.9,13,18 " Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum reentered Bavaria and restored Frankish suzerainty in 728.9 He marched against the Alemanni under "King Lantfrid" and thereby subjugating Southern Germany in 730.9,19 He was a witness where Landfrid I, Duke of Alemania attacked by Charles Martel in 730.19 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum was a witness where Eudes, princeps d' Aquitaine attacked by a Moslem army under the command of Abd-er-Rahman, Governor of Spain, who crossed the Pyrenees at the head of an immense army, overcame Duke Eudes, and advanced as far as the Loire, pillaging and burning as he went. In 731.20,21 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum was a witness where Eudes, princeps d' Aquitaine fled north to ask Charles, his Carolingian rival, for assistance.21 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum was disappointed with Eudes of Aquitaine for comprimising with the Moslems, but did move south to attack the Moors in Aquitaine in 731.21 He defeated the Saracens and stopped the Moslem conquest of Europe at Tours in October 732 at the area outside of Tours. This battle (the Battle of Poitiers) has proven to be one of the most decisive battles in history.9 He was a witness where Hishâm ibn 'Abd al-Malik, 10th Umayyad Caliph engaged in several wars with the Byzantines, his army conquered Narbonne and his empire expanded to Poitiers in France, where the Battle of Balat Al-Shuhada' (Tours-Poitiers) took place in October 732.22 As of after October 732, also called Charles "The Hammer" He was given this name following the Battle of Poitiers for the way he had mercilessly slain the moslem army advancing into Europe.9 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum began a series of campaigns to force Burgundy to yield to his rule in 733.23 He put down a rebellion by the Frisian Duke, Bobo, who was slain in battle, between 733 and 734. This time the Frisians were completely subdued and adopted Christianity.9 He was a witness where Theodebald, Duke of Alemania driven out of power by Charles Martel in 734.19 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum heard of Eudes' death and marched rapidly across the Loire River in order to make his power felt around Bordeaux in 735.23 He entered Aquitaine, quelled the revolt of Hatto and Hunold, sons of the deceased duke Eudes in 735. A year later he left the duchy to Hunold, to be held in fief.9 He was a witness where Odilo, Herzog von Bayern became Duke of Bavaria with the permission of Charles Martel of the Franks in 735.24 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum was aware of the death of Eudes, princeps d' Aquitaine in 735; "Dying undisturbed" despite the Moors on one side, the Franks on the other.25,21 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum was a witness where Hunold, duc d' Aquitaine granted the Dukedom of Aquitaine as a fief from Charles Martel in 736.20 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum assumed full authority of the Franks on the death of the Merovingian Theodoric IV in 737. So great had his power grown that he did so without legal right.9 He witnessed the death of Theudericus IV, rex Francorum, vir inluster in 737.9,4,26 Carolus Martellus, dux Francorum banished the Moslems from Arles and Avignon, and defeated their army on the River Berre near Narbonne before 739.9 He surpressed a rebellion in Provence led by Maurontus in 739.9 He was had completely subdued the petty rulers of Burgundy in 739. He also continued fending off Muslim attacks into Gaul. He left a will before 21 October 741; Provided for the division of the Frankish Empire between his sons Pepin (Neustria, Burgundy, and Provence) and Carloman (Austrasia, Alamannia, and Thuringia). Aquitaine and Burgundy were left to their own devices.9 He died on 22 October 741 at Quierzy-sur-Oise, France.27,9,6 He was the eponymous ancestor of the Carolingian Dynasty.
