"Lamar Daily News" Monday, August 27, 1956 �page 1 HOLLY MAN DIES OF HEART ATTACK SUNDAY MORNING Holly (Special)- Charles David Watkins, 39, died Sunday morning at 9:45am following an apparent heart attack. Watkins had been servicing the truck used in his business preparatory to making a trip to Pueblo when he felt ill and went into his home to rest, shortly before his death.
Watkins was born in Lake Charles , La. , March 18, 1917 . A veteran of World War II, he was well-known as an athlete having played considerable basketball.
Besides his wife, Virginia, he is survived by twin sons, 2 � Jerry Wayne and Larry Dean; three step-sons, Stanley Grogan of the family home, and Russell and Duwayne Grogan serving with the US Navy; his mother, Mrs. Gladys Allen, Emporia, Kan; four sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Stout and Mrs. Lois Hardin, Emporia; Mrs. Frances Robohn, Manhattan, Kan., and Mrs. Helen Telfer, Joplin, Mo.; four brothers, Ernest in Texas; Harold Elgin, serving with the navy; Earl, Emporia, LP Jr. in Washington state; and four Holly relatives, and aunt, Mrs. Mae Manning and three cousins, Mrs. Gladys Parsley, Leroy Robson, and Hugh Manning.
Funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of relatives, Morich Funeral Home will direct the service.
