Mrs. S.K. Witten was born at Charles City, Iowa on Ma_ 6, 1874 where the days of her childhood and early life were spent. On November 29, 1895 she was married to Sam Witten and to them were born three boys. In 1915, they moved to their homestead, nine miles northeast of Holly where she died on January 26, 1917.
O call it not death,
Tis life began
For the waters are passed and home is won
The ransomed spirit hath reached
The shore where they weep and suffer and sin no more.
Mrs. Witten was a good wife, a good mother and a good neighbor. She fulfilled the scripture in many ways that a great many Christians fail to do. She was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed help. As the scripture says, Love they neighbor as thyself;
We certainly feel that Mrs. Witten did. She loved company and enjoyed conservation, but it was always something good. If she didnt know anything good to say about any one she would not say any thing at all.
Rev. Woods preached the funeral sermon at the home, after which the body was buried in Holly cemetery.
