That Colo Samuel Smith be requested to provide twenty swords
and twenty Pistols for the Troops of light Horse raised in the Forrest
of Baltimore County and that he furnish Mr George Keeports of
Baltimore Town with what Money may be necessary for making
Ammunition Waggons, making and repairing Carriages and Clean-
ing and repairing Arms.
That the Lieut of Frederick County immediately arm equip and
march five hundred Militia of his County under proper Officers to
George Town in Montgomery County there to remain 'till this Board
otherwise directs.

Ordered that the Lieutenant of Montgomery County immediately
Arm equip and March Two hundred and fifty Militia of his County
under proper Officers, to George Town in the County above men-
tioned there to remain 'till this Board otherwise directs.
That the Lieutenant of Prince Georges County immediately arm
equip and march two hundred Militia of his County under proper
Officers to George Town there to remain as aforesaid.
That the Troops of Horse in Baltimore County the Troop in Kent
and the Troop in Frederick County immediately repair to George
Town there to remain subject to the further Order of this Board.
Commissions issued to Thomas Crampton Lieut and Benone
Swearingan Ensign of Capt Joseph Chaplines Company of Select
Militia in Washington County, and also to Benjamin Nicholson
appointed Captain Charles Carnan Lieut and Thomas Cromwell
Cornet of a Troop of Horse raised in Baltimore County in Virtue of
the Act to encourage the raising a Volunteer Troop of Light
Horse &ca

[Council Circular to the Western and Eastern Treasurers.]

By a resolution of the General Assembly of Yesterday, we are re-
quested to draw no further Orders on the Treasurer of either Shore,
and that no Orders already drawn be paid by either of the Treasurers
until they take further Order therein. We therefore direct you not
to pay any Orders whatever until you hear further from us.

[Council Circular to the Lieuts of Kent, Frederick and
Baltimore Counties.]

We think a large Body of Troops drawn to a point in this State
might in all Probability prevent the Enemy from invading it and
would be a very important and acceptable Succour to the Marquis
De La Fayette, if the Enemy should be so successful in Virginia
as to encourage them to penetrate our State; under these Impres-
sions we have ordered the Militia Horse and Select Militia from
most of the Counties of this Shore and nine hundred and fifty of the
Militia at large to George Town on Patowmack. and request you will
