No. 56,
|
[Council to Smith.]
To Captn Nathl Smith Sir. You are
requested to send to the Council of Safety as soon as possible an
account of all the Canon at Baltimore and Swivel guns belonging
to the Province, as well those that are mounted at the
Fortifications as those that are not, and their weights
of Metal. 3d July 1776
[Dorsey to Council.] Gentlemen I waited on Mr
Harris concerning the size of the Bayonets and he gave me for
answer that he was going the next day to Philadelphia, and could
not do any thing in it until he returned, for which reason I did
not wait on Mr Devall for the Bayonet for a Pattern,
but now wait on you by Mr Gary to confirm the contract
to make the Bayonets at 6/6 and to get an order for the Steel, in
mean time remain Gentlemen yr most
obedient Humble Servt Saml
Dorsey Junr July 3d 76
