DEATH: GOMER -- Funeral services for Clarice Eileen Lugibihl, 68, of Gomer, will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at Lima Baptist Temple, Lima, the Rev. Ronald B. Cannon officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Mennonite Church Cemetery, near Bluffton. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today, and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Mrs. Lugibihl died at 8:58 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born Nov. 5, 1931, near Columbus Grove to Melville Leroy and Lela Marie (Riggenbach) Basinger. She married Howard J. Lugibihl on Dec. 26, 1954, and he survives. Survivors also include three sons, Michael D. and Thomas J., both of Gomer; and Scott E. of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Pamela A. Mathews, Monroe, Mich.; and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dale F. Basinger. Mrs. Lugibihl was a homemaker. She taught for two years in Pandora; and was a third-grade teacher for 28 years in Gomer, where she was named Teacher of the Year. She also taught reading for the Allen County Literacy Council and education courses at Bluffton College; and had presented educational workshops all over the United States. She was a member of Lima Baptist Temple; Ohio State Teachers Association; Putnam County Farm Bureau; and the former Sugar Creek Grange. She was a volunteer at Lima Memorial Hospital for several years. She was a Columbus Grove High School graduate who also received her bachelor's degree from Bluffton College and her master's degree from Bowling Green State University. Memorials may be made to the church, or to Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
