married Willis Newell Floyd.
In 1857 the young Sallie,
her husband, and their two small sons joined family and friends and left
Georgia, bound for Texas. The
devastation, deprivation, tribulation, and grief brought by the American Civil
War was courageously endured by Sallie, now widowed, and her five
children.
Children of Sarah Clopton
and Willis Floyd are:

According
to family tradition, Josephine Moss Floyd and Thomas Walker Jones eloped on the
back of a gray mule when he was 26 years old and she, 13. The couple homesteaded in Oklahoma
about 1897, about fifteen or twenty miles southwest of Vinson, Oklahoma in what
is now Harmon County. They
presided over a small farm and ran a few head of stock. Before his death in 1927, they moved
into the town of Vinson. Their
youngest son, Elston Floyd, lived on the farm all of his life. In 1999 the old barn was still standing

10. One source states that Thomas Walker
Jones was born in Erath County, Texas, however, Erath County was not a county
until 1858 and he was born in 1847.
Erath County histories show only one family named Jones in that area and
that time, and the names do not match those of the Jones-Floyd marriage. Other sources state he was born in
Georgia.
