     Margaret Cheyne was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 30 April 1829, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 440: [This entry was placed in the register considerably after the fact and with six other entries of the same family.] "1829 April 30th Thomas Cheyne (986), Seaman in Peterhead had a daughter baptized, named Margaret (997), before John Booth and William Farquhar.”.1

Elizabeth Cheyne, Margaret Cheyne, John Cheyne, Robert Smith Cheyne and Christian Cheyne were listed as in the household of Elizabeth McWilliam on the 1841 Scotland Census, at Union Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was her daughter, listed as age 12, and born in Aberdeenshire.2

Margaret Cheyne married Andrew Lindsay 1 February 1848, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Peterhead, 1820-1854, Page 176/429, "February 1st (1848) Andrew Lindsay (1018), Seaman and Margaret Cheyne (997), both in this parish.”.3

Margaret Cheyne, in Peterhead, witnessed the christening of her son, Alexander Lindsay, on 1 July 1850, at Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 475: [This entry was placed in the register considerably after the fact and with one other entry of the same family.] "1850 July 1st Henry (crossed out) Andrew Lindsay (1018), Seaman, in Peterhead and Margaret Cheyne (997), his wife, had a son born, baptized and named Alexander (1019).”.4

Margaret Lindsay was listed on the 1851 Scotland Census, at Rose Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was head of household and a seaman's wife. Also present was her child, Alexander Lindsay. Her husband was not present, probably at sea. She was listed as 21 and born in Peterhead Parish.5

Also present were her children, Helen Lindsay and Andrew Lindsay. Also present were two boarders. All family members were indexed with a surname of Lindsey. Margaret was 31 years old and born in Peterhead Parish.6

Margaret Lindsay MS CHEYNE recorded the birth of her daughter, Williamina Slaiker Lindsay, 4 July 1861, in 18 Commerce Street, Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 6:30 AM.7

Margaret Lindsay was listed on the 1881 Scotland Census, at 28 Market Street, in Gamrie, Gamrie Parish, Banff, Scotland. She was head of household and a seaman's wife. Her husband was not present.9

Margaret Lindsay was in the household of John T. Fullerton and his wife, Williamina Fullerton, and listed as mother-in-law on the 1891 Scotland Census, at 19 Braemar Place, in Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was 61 years old an born in Peterhead Parish.10
