     Thomas Cheyne was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 10 November 1816, at Nether Kinmundy, in Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Longside, 1621-1819, Page 216 "10th (Nov 1816) (No.) 50 Thomas, son of Thomas Cheyne and Elizabeth McWilliam, Nether Kinmundy".1

Thomas Cheyne was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 14 November 1816, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 439: [This entry was placed in the register considerably after the fact and with one other entry of the same family.] "1816 November 14th Thomas Cheyne (986), Seaman in Peterhead had a son baptized, named Thomas (993), before James Cheyne (984) and William McWilliam (6655)”.2

Thomas Cheyne was listed on the 1841 Scotland Census, at at Union Street, at Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Also present were his father, Thomas (986), and brothers, William (994) and James (995) Cheynes. They were all listed as seamen on an enumeration district of only seamen.3

Thomas Cheyne married Agnes Milne 6 October 1842, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Peterhead, 1820-1854, Page 130/383, "6th Oct'r (1842) Thomas Cheyne (993), Seaman and Agnes Milne (1003) both in Peterhead.”.4

The baptismal record of Elizabeth McWilliam Cheyne documented Thomas Cheyne, seaman, in Peterhead, as her father, 7 August 1843, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 198, "August 7th (1843) Thomas Cheyne (993), Seaman in Peterhead had a daughter, born 27th July, baptized and named Elizabeth McWilliam (1004), before Will'm Mess & Tho's Cheyne (986).”.5

The baptismal record of James Cheyne documented Thomas Cheyne, seaman, in Peterhead, as his father, 11 December 1845, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 247, "December 11th (1845) Thomas Cheyne (993), Seaman, in Peterhead & Agnes Milne (1003) his wife, had a son, born 3rd baptized and named James (1005), before James Milne (1001) & Thomas Cheyne (986)”.6

The baptismal record of Thomas Cheyne documented Thomas Cheyne as his father, 5 March 1847, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 270, "March 5th (1847) Thomas Cheyne (993), Shipmaster, in Peterhead and Anges Milne (1003) his wife had a son born 11th Feb'y, baptized and named Thomas (1006), before James Milne (1001) and William Greig”.7

The baptismal record of Agnes Cheyne documented Thomas Cheyne, shipmaster, in Peterhead, as her father, 23 December 1848, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 303, "December 23rd (1848) Thomas Cheyne (993), Shipmaster in Peterhead & Agnes Cheyne (1003) his wife had a daughter born 22nd Sept'r, baptized and named Agnes (1007), before James Milne (1001) and Thomas Cheyne (986)”.8

Thomas Cheyne. Thomas died before the 1851 census. His wife, Agnes, was listed as a widow, living with their children. He may have drowned in the Peterhead harbour.9,10

Thomas Cheyne, deceased seaman, was listed on the death record as the father of the deceased Thomas Cheyne, on 17 October 1861; at 12 noon, of scarlet fever for two days.11

Thomas Cheyne was listed as a deceased shipmaster on the marriage record of his daughter Elizabeth McWilliam Cheyne and John James Chaddock, on 15 December 1870.12

Thomas Cheyne was listed as a deceased ship captain on the marriage record of his son James Cheyne and Mary Soutter, on 21 December 1871; Established Church of Scotland.13,14
