     Ann Nicol was born, 19 June 1819, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.1

Ann Nicol was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 27 June 1819, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1739-1819, "June 27th (1819) [This entry was placed in the register considerably after the fact with one other of the same family.] The same person (Thomas Nicol (1355), ship-carpenter in Peterhead) had a daughter baptised and named Ann (972), before Thomas Dicky and John Reid.”.2

Ann Nicol was listed on the 1841 Scotland Census at Dens, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was a servant in the household of Wm Arbuthnot, Esqr. She was 24 years of age, born in Aberdeenshire and a female servant.3

Ann Nicol married George Cheyne 31 December 1842, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Peterhead, 1820-1854, Page 134/387, "Dec'r 31st (1842) George Cheyne (548), Mason and Ann Nicol (972) both in Peterhead”.4

The baptismal record of Mary Ann Cheyne documented Ann Nicol as her mother, 4 February 1847, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 268, "February 4th (1847) George Cheyne (548), Mason in Peterhead and Ann Nicol (972) his wife, had a daughter, born 26th Jan'y, baptized and named Mary (975), before Thomas Nicol (1356) and John Milne.”.5

The baptismal record of Margaret Cheyne documented Ann Nicol as her mother, 18 June 1849, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 313, "June 18th (1849) George Cheyne (548), Mason in Peterhead and Ann Nicol (972) his wife had a daughter born 24th May - baptized and named Margaret (976), before John Milne and John Henry.”.6

They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Elizabeth Cheyne, Christian Cheyne, Mary Ann Cheyne and Margaret Cheyne. She was listed as 31 and born in Peterhead Parish.7

Ann Cheyne and her husband, George Cheyne, were listed on the 1861 Scotland Census, at 66 Kirk Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Christina Cheyne, Mary Ann Cheyne, Margaret Cheyne, Thomas Cheyne, Elenora Cheyne and William Kirten Cheyne. She was listed as 40 years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.8

Ann Nicol and her husband, George Cheyne, were listed on the 1871 Scotland Census, at 67 Kirk Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Christina Cheyne, Thomas Cheyne and Elenora Cheyne. She was listed with her maiden name, 56 years of age years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.9

Ann Cheyne died 19 January 1879 in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.10

Ann Cheyne was buried, at Saint Peter Cemetery, in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Her monumental inscription reads: "Erected by JOHN KIDD in memory of his son THOS G CHEYNE died 9th May 1878 Aged 14 months. Also his mother-in-law ANN NICOL died 19th Jan 1879 aged 59 years. And his father-in-law GEO CHEYNE died 2nd Nov 1884 aged 73 years. The above JOHN KIDD died Dec 1928. Also his wife MARGARET CHEYNE died 29th Dec1935"..11
