William Cheyne

      On 12 October 1740. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Belhelvie, 1716-1763, Frame 30. “At Belhelvie, Octo’r 12 1740. The said day William Chein in Midle Ardoe had a daughter baptized called Anna”.1,2

William Cheyne was the cautioner of the bride at the publication of marriage banns of Anna Cheyne and George Leask on 16 July 1774 at Belhelvie Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was also her father. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Belhelvie, 1763-1819, Frame 87. “The said day (July 16 1774) George Leask and Anne Chein Both Parochiners Signified Their Purpose of Marriage; Cautioners Alexander Shirran in Overhill and William Chein Whitecairns; They Consigned Pledges and after Proclaimation were Married August 16 1774”.3
