Alexander Cheyne

M, #9599, b. circa 1700
FatherUnlinked Cheynes in Aberdeen, 1696-1749
      Alexander Cheyne (18475) probably was either (781), (1565), (9579) or (9599).1

An Alexander Cheyne had four documented children in Old Meldrum Parish, from 1738 through 1745. All were at Kilblean. From 1757 through 1773 eight additional Cheyne children were born in Kilblean. The fathers of the eight were John and George Cheyne. In addition, a William Cheyne and Alexander Cheyne, both in Kilblean witness baptisms.
Neither John nor George were known to have born at Kilblean. It is herein assumed that John and George were earlier sons of Alexander. They would have been born circa 1730.
One of the sons of Alexander is named Gavin. Which was a seldom used name in this family. A Gavin Elmsley witnesses five of the Cheyne baptisms.

An Alexander Moir witnesses the baptism of Alexander's son, William, 1738. An Alexander Cheyne marries Margaret Moir, 1757. Is this Alexander another son? Or did Alexander, the father, remarry? It is herein assumed that it was the former.

Possible known Alexander Cheynes are numbers: 781, 1275, 6579, 7345, 7350, 7713, 7719 and 8862.1

Circa 1730. Alexander Cheyne (9615) was probably the son of Alexander Cheyne (9599), as outlined in the biography of the latter. If he was not the son, then Alexander (9599) and (9615) are the same person.

Circa 1730. George Cheyne (9617) was probably the son of Alexander Cheyne (9599) as outlined in the biography of the latter. If not, he was undoubtedly his brother.
