FatherJohn Cheyne b. c 1590
Andrew Cheyne was baptized, 5 October 1617, in Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Andrew Cheyne (9254) was the son of John Cheyne (9253) and Kay Annapill. No marriage record was found for the couple. This was the only birth record for the couple. It is assumed that they were not married.

An Andrea Cheine graduated from Aberdeen University, Aberdeen, 1601. That Anrew was probably either (2616) or (9254). The entry in Fasti Aberdonenses. reads: "Academiae Aberdonensi et collegio ejusdem regio nomina dederunt adolescentes, quorum nomina sequuntur, sub praeceptore Da. Leochaeo. Anno 1631 ... Andreas Cheine ...".1

William Cheyne (later to become minister at Dyce) received a Masters of Arts degree from King's College, 1635. Also in the class was an Andrew Cheyne. William and Andrew were probably closely related. Andrew was probably either (2516) or (9254). The entry in Officers and Graduates of University & King's College reads and in Fasti Aberdonenses: "Anno 1635. Laurea magistrali donati sunt adolescentes, praeside Magistro Dauide Laeocheo...Mr. Gulielmus Chynaeus...Mr. Andraeas Chynaeus...".2,3
