     Elspet Chine witnessed the christening of her son, James Cheyne or Forsyth, on 27 January 1812, at Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Methlick, 1746-1820, Frame 154 "27th Jan'y 1812 true date Alexander Forsyth in Cairns had a child baptized & named James before these Witnefses Alexander Calder in Drakmyre & Alexander Walker in Kirktown. The child was begotten in fornication with Elspet Chine".1
