Hugh Cheyne, Alison Cheyne, Andrew Cheyne, Elizabeth Cheyne and Robert Cheyne were listed as children in the household of John Cheyne and his wife, Jane Cheyne on the 1871 Scotland Census, at 12 Avenhead, in New Monkland Parish, Lanark, Scotland. He was 16 years of age, born in Newbattle Parish, Midlothian and a coal miner.4

Andrew Cheyne married Isabella Clark. No marriage record was found.2

He was head of household and a coal miner. Also present were his children, Jane Cheyne, John Cheyne, Walter Cheyne, Andrew Cheyne and Isabella Cheyne. Andrew was listed as 36 years of age and born in Newton Parish, Midlothian.3

Andrew Cheyne and his wife Isabella Cheyne were listed on the 1901 Scotland Census, in Standburn, Muiravonside Parish, Stirling, Scotland. He was head of household and a coal miner. Also present were his children, Jeanie Cheyne, John Cheyne, Walter Cheyne, Andrew Cheyne, Bella Cheyne, Lizzie Cheyne, Hugh Cheyne and James Cheyne. Andrew was listed as 46 years of age and born in Newton Parish, Midlothian.6

Andrew Cheyne was named the father and closest relative of Mary Henderson on a passenger list dated 24 October 1909. He was residing at Stanburn, Stirlingshire.7

Andrew Cheyne, of Standburn, Avonbridge, Stirlingshire was named as the father of Hugh Cheyne, who died in action, on 23 May 1918 and was buried at Ecoivres Military Cemetery, near Saint Eloi, France; during World War I.8
