Patrick Cheyne

M, #810, b. circa 1640
Father(?) Cheyne in Fyvie, Monquhitter and Turriff b. c 1600
The parentage of Patrick Cheyne (4423) is not known. He was first noticed fathering children in Fyvie, 25 January 1708. He was likely born before OPR's were kept in that parish. He was not found on the 1696 poll.
The people that witnessed his children's baptisms are of the Kennert, Forsyth and Wilson families. That seems to indicate that he may have been this group of Cheynes. One of his witnesses was a Patrick Wederburn. His name also appears with Cheynes in Monquhitter.
There was a Patrick Cheyne (810) in Monquhitter, who fathered a John Cheyne, baptized 17 May 1671. This Patrick may have been his son, possibly born in Fyvie, before the OPR was kept.

The baptismal record of John Cheyne documented Patrick Cheyne as his father, 17 May 1671, at Boghead, in Monquhitter Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Monquhitter, 1670-1771, Frame 2 "May 17th (1671) Patrick Cheyn in Booghead had a Son baptized whose name was called John Witnefses John Brown (1521) Andrew Cheyn (759)."1

William Cheyne and Patrick Cheyne were witnesses at the Christening of (?) Cheyne, 23 May 1701, at Creichniled, in Fyvie Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Fyvie, 1685-1764, Page 100 "May 23rd (1701) William Chein in Creichie had a daughter baptized the s'd day called ______ Witnefses Patrick Chein (810) in (Dyhefrd?) (entered Darnabo) and William Chein (809) in Creichie.".2
