He was head of household and a tailor's cutler. Also present were his children, James Cheyne, Herbert Cheyne, Annie Cheyne, Ellie Cheyne, Effie Cheyne and Jennie Cheyne. James was listed as 44 years of age and born in Insch Parish, Aberdeen.8

James Cheyne married Julia (?). Julia is herein assumed to have married James. See 1920 notes.

James (7793) probably was the James Cheyne listed in the Aberdeen City Directory; "Cheyne, Jas., cutter '(F. Henderson)' 6 Wallfield Place". At the same address, also listed, was a "Cheyne, Mrs. Julia, stationer and newsagent, 106 Rosemount Place, home, 6 Wallfield Place". Julia is assumed to have been the second wife of James. She may have been a wife of one of his sons.9

James Cheyne was named the closest relative of James Gordon Cheyne on a passenger list 30 June 1924.10

James Cheyne were named as the parents of George Ainges Gordon Cheyne, who died as a result of an action of World War II, on 25 October 1947 and was memorialized at City of London Cemetery, Manor Park.11
