The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Gamrie, Volume 2, 1757-1819 "March 10th & 18th (1795) Janet L. D. (lawful daughter) to John Chine in Newtown of Melrose & Anne Rudiman his Wife was born March 10th & bapt'd 18th. Witnefses Thomas Wilson & John Barber in the Town".3,4,5

Her monumental inscription reads "In memory of Janet Cheyne the beloved wife of William Macintosh who died at Sandystripe 13th (or 18th) June 1864 aged 69 years erected by her sorrowing husband and children. Also Ann Macintosh her daughter who died 13th Sept 1841 aged 13 years".8
