     Margaret Beaton was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 22 March 1812, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1739-1819, Page 9/312, "March 22nd 1812 [This entry was placed in the Register considerably after the fact with three others of the same family.] Peter Beaton (1343), labourer in Peterhead, had a daughter baptised & named Margaret (621), before Ja's Sangster & Ja's Davidson.”.1

Margaret Beaton married James Cheyne 9 August 1838, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Peterhead, 1820-1854, Page 100/353, "August 9th (1838) James Cheyne (580), Mason & Margaret Beaton (621) both in this parish.”.2

Margaret Chyne, James Chyne, Margret Chyne, George Chyne, Peter Beaton and John Beaton were listed as in the household of James Chyne on the 1841 Scotland Census, at Kirk Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was his wife, age 28 and born in Aberdeenshire.3

The baptismal record of John Cheyne documented Margaret Beaton as his mother, 12 November 1843, at Free Church of Scotland, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 202, "Nov'r 12th (1843) James Cheyne (580), Mason in Peterhead had a son, born 22nd Oct'r, baptized and named John (625), before the congregation of the Free Church.”
An later entry in the same Register of Baptisms reads as follows: Pages 538 & 539 (109), [This entry was placed in the register considerably after the fact and with three other entries of the same family.] "1843 October 22nd James Cheyne (580), Mason, in Peterhead, and Margaret Beaton (621), his wife, had a son born, baptized & named John (625).”.4

The baptismal record of Alexander William Cheyne documented Margaret Beaton as his mother, 18 September 1845, at Invernettie, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Pages 538 & 539 (110), [This entry was placed in the register considerably after the fact and with three other entries of the same family.] "1845 September 18th James Cheyne (580), Mason, in Peterhead or Invernetty, and Margaret Beaton (621), his wife, had a son born, baptized & named Alexander (626).”.5

The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Pages 538 & 539 (110), [This entry was placed in the register considerably after the fact and with three other entries of the same family.] "1850 July 14th James Cheyne (580), Mason at Invernetty, and Margaret Beaton (621) his wife, had a daughter born, baptized & named Christian (627)”.5

The baptismal record of Andrew Cheyne documented Margaret Beaton as his mother, 21 July 1852, at Invernettie, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 377, "July 21st (1852) James Cheyne (580), Mason, Invernettie and Margaret Beaton (621), his wife, had a son born 14th baptized and named Andrew (628), before William Scott and Alexander Smith.7

Margaret Beaton was listed on the birth record of Robert Cheyne as his mother. The birth took place on 24 September 1855, in Meikle Cocklaw, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The birth record also listed her as 43 years of age, mason's wife and who married James Cheyne in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, 1838. Robert was her ninth child, with five boys and two girls living and one girl dead; at 3 PM.8,9

Margaret Cheyne and her husband, James Cheyne, were listed on the 1871 Scotland Census, at 2 King Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. She was 59 years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.11

Margaret Cheyne and her husband, James Cheyne, were listed on the 1881 Scotland Census, at 3 King Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their child was, Robert Cheyne.12

James Cheyne and Margaret Cheyne was in the household of Alexander Will and his wife, Christina Cheyne, and listed as mother-in-law on the 1891 Scotland Census, at 1 South Constitution, in Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was 74 years of age and born in Peterhead.13

Margaret Beaton died 8 April 1894 at 1 South Constitution in Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.14
