     Alexander Gordon Cheyne was born, 4 July 1869, at 6:15 AM, in 18 Skene Square, Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.1

George G. Cheyne, Anna Cheyne and Alexander Cheyne were listed as children in the household of George Cheyne and his wife, Eliza Cheyne on the 1871 Scotland Census, at 18 Skene Square, in Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.2

George Gordon Cheyne, Alexander Gordon Cheyne, Annie Cheyne, James Cheyne, Maggie Cheyne and Caroline Cheyne were listed as children in the household of George Cheyne and his wife, Elizabeth Cheyne on the 1881 England Census, at 53 Pagnell Street, in London, Deptford, Saint Paul Parish, Kent, England. He was also listed as a scholar.3

Alexander Gordon Cheyne and his future wife, Elizabeth Francis Essex were witnesses at the marriage of George Thomas Welbrock and his sister, Annie Bruckshaw Cheyne, 5 August 1889, in London, Hatcham, Saint James Parish, Middlesex, England; Church of England.4

They were married in the parish church after banns. He was 27, a bachelor, an assistant guard and resided at 25 Childeric Road. A witness of the ceremony was an Alice Sarah Edwards who may have been his sister.6,7

The baptismal record of Alexander Albert Cheyne documented Alexander Gordon Cheyne, residing at 125 Woodpecker Road, as his father, 8 September 1897, in London, Hatcham, Saint James Parish, Middlesex, England.8

About 1901. Agnes Christine (or Christina) Cheyne (16699) was the assumed daughter of Alexander (5755) and Ellen Cheyne. She was born in London in 1901 and her father's name was Alexander. Alexander was the only Alexander Cheyne found on the 1901 British census that resided in London. Her birth was indexed in the 3rd quarter of 1901.9,10

Alexander Gordon Cheyne and his wife Ellen F. Cheyne were listed on the 1901 England Census, at 13 Ladywell Park, in London, Lewisham, Middlesex, England. He was head of household and a railway servant. Also present was his son, Alexander Albert Cheyne.6

Alexander Cheyne was named the father and closest relative of Agnes Christine Cheyne on a border crossing card on 23 September 1937. He resided at 31 Midmar Garden, Edinburgh.9
