     Elizabeth Gordon was born, about 1837, in Oyne Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The 1881, 1891 and 1901 British Censuses listed her place of birth, only as Scotland. No IGI birth record was found.1,2

Elizabeth Gordon married George Cheyne 31 December 1857, in accordance with the procedures of the Free Church of Scotland, at King Street Road, in Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The marriage record reads in part..."Eliza. Gordon, 21, spinster, domestic servant, residing at Hyde Vale, Greenwich...." Her parents were William Gordon, labourer and Jane Smith, deceased.1

Elizabeth Cheyne and her husband, George Cheyne, were listed on the 1861 Scotland Census, at 45 Proviion Shop (Spital Street), in Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Isabella Cheyne and Emma Cheyne.3

Eliza Cheyne and her husband, George Cheyne, were listed on the 1871 Scotland Census, at 18 Skene Square, in Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, George G. Cheyne, Anna Cheyne and Alexander Cheyne.2

Elizabeth Gordon was listed on a birth record as the mother of Ada Sarah G. Cheyne, about 1877, Greenwich District, Kent, England.4
