     George Cheyne was born, 22 June 1834, in Gordons Mill, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.1

George Cheyne was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 26 May 1835, at Gordons Mill, in Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Old Machar, 1830-1836, Page 284: "May 26th 1835 John Cheyne (5701), Labourer at Gordon's Mill & his Spouse Isabella Bannerman (5737), had a son born on the 22nd day of June 1834 named George (5738), baptized by the Rev'd Mr. Smith, Witnesses, George Cheyne (5711) and James Rae (5718)."1

Isabella Chyne, George Chyne, James Chyne, Margret Chyne and Rob't Chyne were listed as in the household of John Chyne on the 1841 Scotland Census, at King Street Road, in Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was his son, age 6 and born in Aberdeenshire.2

George Cheyne, James Cheyne, Margaret Cheyne, Christina Cheyne and Hellen Cheyne were listed as children in the household of John Cheyne and his wife, Isabella Cheyne on the 1851 Scotland Census, at King Street Road, in Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was employed as a printer.3

George was a witness at the marriage of Arthur Sinclair and his sister, Margaret Cheyne, on 31 December 1856 at King Street Road, at Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; Free Church of Scotland.4,5,6,7,8

George Cheyne, journeyman plumber, recorded the birth of his daughter, Isabella Bannerman Cheyne, on 30 January 1857, in 65 Spital Street, Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 7:10 AM.9

George Cheyne married Elizabeth Gordon 31 December 1857, in accordance with the procedures of the Free Church of Scotland, at King Street Road, in Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The marriage record indicates that he was a 23 year old bachelor and a journeyman plumber at he time of the marriage, He resided at King Street Road before the marriage.10

George was a witness at the marriage of his brother, James Cheyne and Caroline Sangster, on 14 April 1860 at King Street Road, at Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was listed there as a plumber; Church of Scotland.11

George Cheyne journeyman plumber, recorded the birth of his daughter, Emma Louisa Raymond Cheyne, 27 January 1861, in 45 Spital Street, Old Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 3:30 PM.12

George Cheyne, journey plumber, recorded the birth of his son, Alexander Gordon Cheyne, on 4 July 1869, in 18 Skene Square, Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 6:15 AM.24

George Cheyne and his wife Eliza Cheyne were listed on the 1871 Scotland Census, at 18 Skene Square, in Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was head of household and a plumber's gasfitter. Also present were his children, George G. Cheyne, Anna Cheyne and Alexander Cheyne.25

George Cheyne, journeyman plumber, recorded the birth of his son, James Cheyne, on 28 August 1871, in 18 Skene Square, Aberdeen, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 7:20 AM.20,26

About 1877. Ada Sarah G. Cheyne (17170) was the assumed daughter of George Cheyne (5738) and Elizabeth Gordon. Her birth was recorded in Greenwich District in the 3rd quarter of 1877. Her assumed parents were there at the time. She was not found on subsequent censuses.27

George Cheyne and his wife Elizabeth Cheyne were listed on the 1881 England Census, at 53 Pagnell Street, in London, Deptford, Saint Paul Parish, Kent, England. He was head of household and a plumber and gas fitter. Also present were his children, George Gordon Cheyne, Alexander Gordon Cheyne, Annie Cheyne, James Cheyne, Maggie Cheyne and Caroline Cheyne.28

George Cheyne, plumber, was listed as the father of the groom on the marriage record of George Gordon Cheyne and Mary Jane Elliott, 26 December 1887; Church of England.29,30,18

George Cheyne, plumber and gas fitter, was listed as the father of the bride on the marriage record of Annie Bruckshaw Cheyne and George Thomas Welbrock, 5 August 1889; Church of England.31

He was found on a Register of Electors in Deptford Borough, London residing in a dwelling house at 23 Childeric Road for all years 1890-1897.32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39

He was head of household and a plumber. Also present were his children, Alexander Gordon Cheyne, James Cheyne, Maggie Cheyne and Caroline Cheyne.40

George Cheyne, foreman, was listed as the father of the groom on the marriage record of Alexander Gordon Cheyne and Elizabeth Francis Essex, 25 January 1896; Church of England.41,42

George Cheyne, plumber, was listed as the father of the bride on the marriage record of Maggie Henry Cheyne and Henry Leonard Holdaway, 13 June 1896; Church of England.43

He was found on a Register of Electors in Deptford District, London residing in a dwelling-house at 4 Ruddigore Road for 1898-1901. He was also noted as qualified at 23 Childeric Road in 1898 only.44,45,46,47

George Cheyne and his wife Elizabeth Cheyne were listed on the 1901 England Census, at 4 Ruddefore Road, in London, Deptford, Saint Paul Parish, Kent, England. He was head of household and a plumber. Also present was his child, Carry Cheyne.48

George Cheyne, store keeper, was listed as the father of the bride on the marriage record of Caroline Sangster Cheyne and Lewis Arthur Aldred, 19 January 1904; Church of England.49

George Cheyne was found on a Register of Electors in Lewisham Borough, London, a lodger, residing in three unfurnished rooms at 18 Molesworth Street in 1908 and 1909. In 1910, he had two unfurnished rooms. His landlord was H. Holdaway,at the same address, probably his son-in-law (husband of his daughter, Margaret).50,51,52
