Mary Cheyne was listed on the 1891 Scotland Census at Mill Head Ironside, in New Deer Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was a servant in the household of Isabella Johnstone, farmer. Mary was 19 years of age, born in Monquhitter Parish and a general domestic servant.1

Mary Cheyne was listed on the 1901 Scotland Census at Gairnirston, in King Edward Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Mary Cheyne was a servant in the household of James Wilson Leggat, farmer and banking agent. She was listed as 29 years of age, born in Fordyce Parish, Banff and a dairymaid.5

Mary Cheyne married Alexander Ross 29 November 1907, in accordance with the procedures of the Episcopal Church of Scotland, at Union Hotel, in Turriff, Turriff Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was 34 years of age, a domestic servant, spinster and resided at Parkside, Luncarty, King Edward Parish. Witnesses were Alexander Taylor and Alexander Dick. Her parents were confirmed to be as recorded herein.6

Mary Ross died 19 November 1922 at 8:40 PM, of uteric carcinoma, at 31 Somerville Street in Burntisland, Fife, Scotland. She was listed as married to Alexander Ross and the daughter of Isabells Kirkton (father not listed), 49 years of age and a domestic servant. Her husband recorded her death.7

Mary Cheyne was buried, at Kinghorn Road Cemetery, in Burntisland, Fife, Scotland. Her monumental inscription reads: "In memory of our parents Alex. Ross died 9th Nov. 1930 Mary Cheyne died 19th Nov. 1922..8
