     Lewis Cheyne was born, about 1880, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.1

Mary Ann Cheyne, Margaret Cheyne, George Cheyne, Susan Cheyne, Jemima Cheyne and Lewis Cheyne were listed as children in the household of James Cheyne and his wife, Susan Cheyne on the 1881 Scotland Census, at Tangland Cottage, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was 1 year of age and born in Methlick Parish.2

Jemima Cheyne, Lewis Cheyne and Gordon Cheyne were listed as children in the household of James Cheyne and his wife, Susan Cheyne on the 1891 Scotland Census, at Tangland Cottages, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was 11 years of age, born in Methlick Parish and a scholar.3

Lewis Cheyne was listed on the 1901 Scotland Census at Kirkhill Turnerhall, in Ellon Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Lewis was a servant on the farm of Andrew Davidson. He was 21, born in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, and "keeping house of farm".4

Lewis Cheyne was a witness at the marriage of his brother, George Cheyne, and Jessie Ann Rennie, 23 May 1902, in Mintlaw, Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; Independent Church of Scotland, after banns.5,6

Lewis Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated 12 June 1911, at Quebec, Quebec, Canada. He was a steerage passenger aboard the Saturnia, out of Glasgow. He was 28, single, a farm labourer for fourteen years, had never before been in Canada, born in Scotland and destined for Miniota, Manitoba. He was marked "British Bonus Allowed". N.B.-There was a Bella Clark, 20, single, also destined for Miniota listed several lines after him.7

Lewis Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated 8 December 1914, at Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland. He was found on two entries for the same ship and the same day. First, as a British 3rd class passenger aboard the Pretorian, out of Montreal. He was 32 years old and a labourer. His last permanent residence was in Scotland where he planned to stay. The second a a steerage passenger going to Ellon, Aberdeenshire. He was not sure whether he not return to Canada. Also on the same page similarly listed twice was Susan Cheyne (15844).8

Lewis Cheyne married Jessie G. Webster. The Lewis Cheyne that married Jessie Webster probably was Lewis (5446).5

Lewis Cheyne died 21 December 1957 at Moss Farm in Ellon Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.5,9

Lewis Cheyne was buried, at Methlick Kirkyard, in Methlick Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. His monumental inscription reads; "Erected by Lewis Cheyne in memory of his beloved wife Jessie G. Webster died at Auchterellon 22th April 1954 aged 68. Also their daughter Maggie died 5th Jan 1932 aged 9. Also the above Lewis Cheyne died at Moss Farm, Ellon, 21st Dec 1957 aged 77"..5,10
