The following is a transcription from the Register of Sessions, Parish of Rathen, 1770-1800, Feb 10, 1793, “Sef's met Comp'o Ch'n Henderson (531), an unmarried woman, and laid a Child to the charge of Wm. Cheyne (521), an unmarried man, who having Comp'd, owned the Charge and both were reproved and dismissed. Penalty from Wm. Cheyne 9s.”.2

William Cheyne and George Cheyne were witnesses at the Christening of George Copland, 27 January 1833, at Park, in Lonmay Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Lonmay, 1820-1854, Page 44, "January 27th 1833 - John Copland (549) Cooper in Park had a son baptized named George (1033) - Witnesses George (548) & William Cheyne (521) both in Park.”.16

William Cheyne and George Cheyne were witnesses at the Christening of George Cheyne, 22 February 1835, at Park, in Lonmay Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Lonmay, 1820-1854, Page 51, "February 22nd 1835 James Cheyne (580) in Park had a child baptized named George (1034). Witnesses William (521) and George Cheyne (548) in Park.” He may have been born in Strichen Parish and baptized in Lonmay..17

William Cheyne witnessed the christening of granddaughter, Christian Copland, on 24 October 1840, at Park at Lonmay Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Lonmay, 1820-1854, Page 63, "October 24th 1840 John Copland (549) Park had a daughter baptized named Christian (552) Witnesses Alexander Greig & William Cheyne (521).".18

William Cheyne was listed on the 1841 Scotland Census, at Park, in Lonmay Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was head of household and a shoemaker. Also in the household were Christian Cheyne and Elizabeth Cheyne.19,20

William Cheyne died 13 October 1844.21

William Cheyne was buried, at Rathen Parish Kirkyard, in Rathen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Stone 170. The monumental inscription reads: "Erected by George Cheyne mason in Peterhead in memory of his father William Cheyne sometime shoemaker in Park d. 13 Oct. 1844 aged 77; his mother Christian Henderson d. 27 Mar. 1865 aged 98”..21

William Cheyne, deceased shoemaker, was listed on the death record as the father of the deceased Margaret Fraser, on 31 December 1872; at 3:30 AM, of old age and apoplexy, not certified.22

William Cheyne, deceased master stone mason in Lonmay Parish, Aberdeen, was listed on the death record as the father of the deceased Alexander Cheyne, on 11 December 1875; at 4 PM, of age and general weakness for two years and bronchitis for four days.23,24,25
