William Cheyne was born, about 1680. William Cheyne (4410) was the assumed son of William Cheyne (1515) and Helen Black.
William Cheyne married Margaret Kennert 13 July 1704, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Fyvie Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Fyvie, 1685-1763, Page 278 "July 13th, 1704 The faid day William Chein in Bodiechell and Margratt Konart in Monshill, were now Lawfully married witnefes John Reit (4420) and William Wilfon both in Bodichell". That William probably was (4410).1
He married Margaret Kennert, probably the daughter of James Kennert, who is probably the brother of George Kennert. George Cheyne (3009) in Monquhitter, witnessed baptisms of George Kennert's children, 5 July 1670 and 25 February 1672. There are several instances of intermarriage of these two families. The details of the two families is documented below.
William Cheyne witnessed the marriage of Margaret Cheyne (774) and Adam Clark, 1 August 1693.
He was not found in the 1696 poll. He would have been old enough to have been listed, if living "in familia." Where was he?
A case can also be made that William Cheyne was the son of Mr. William Cheyne (752), Schoolmaster at Auchredy. William Cheyne, Schoolmaster, witnessed 17 March 1689 with a William Wilson, in Monquhitter. William Wilson witnessed the marriage of the younger William (4410) and Margaret Kennert, 13 July 1704, in Fyvie.
The baptismal record of Alexander Cheyne documented William Cheyne as his father, 30 May 1705, at Bodiechell, in Fyvie Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Fyvie, 1685-1764, Page 123 "May 30th 1705 The s'd day William Chein in Bodychell had a Son Baptized called Allexander Witnefes Allex'r Chein (756) in the Parioch of Montwhiter & George Chein (4417) in Bodichell".2
