A William (4153) and John (4154) Cheyne were witnesses to a baptism in Methlick Parish, 14 January 1679. The entry reads as follows: "14 Jan. 1679 The fd day William Chesfer had a fon baptized named William, William Chein & John Cheine witnefses."
William and John were probably brothers or father and son. There was a John Cheyne (5394) that married an Elspet Chesser in Old Machar Parish. He may have been the John Chein.1
