     Rosetta Mary Hughes was born, about 1821, in Montego Bay, Jamaica, British West Indies.1

Mrs. Cheyne and Rev'd Geo. Cheyne were found on a passenger list, dated 17 September 1864, at New York, New York, USA. Also present were their children Geo. E. Cheyne, J. M. Cheyne, R. F. Cheyne, Jane Cheyne, Rob't Cheyne, Sala Cheyne and Baby Cheyne. They were passengers on the steamship Montezuma, on which they boarded in Kingston, Jamaica and were bound for England. They were travelling First Cabin.3

Rosetta Mary Cheyne was granted the probate of the estate of the deceased, Rev'd Geo. Cheyne, 15 February 1871. The will of Rev'd Geo. Cheyne was proved 15 February 1871. An abstract of which reads: "Cheyne The Reverend George. Effects under £100. 15 February. Administration '(with the Will)' of the effects of the Reverend George Cheyne late of Kingston in the Island of Jamaica Clerk who died 10 January 1870 at St. Ann's Bay in the said Island was granted at the Principal Registry to Rosetta Mary Cheyne of 122 Mare street Hackney in the County of Middlesex Widow the universal Legatee.".4

Also present were her children, George Edward Cheyne, Jane M. Cheyne, Rosetta Fanny Cheyne, Susan A. L. Cheyne, Robert John Cheyne, Sybella A. M. Cheyne, Amy E. F. Cheyne and Emily V. I. Cheyne. Also present was a servant the family brought back from the West Indies.5

Rosetta Mary Hughes was listed on the 1881 England Census, at Harrington Road, 1 Malta Villa, in London, Croydon, Surrey, England. She was head of household and a annuitant. Also present were her children, Robert John Cheyne, Amy E. Cheyne and Emily V. Cheyne. She was listed as a widow, 60 and born in Montego Bay.6

Rosetta Mary Cheyne was listed on the 1891 England Census, at 51 Coanbe Street, in London, Croydon, All Saints Parish, Surrey, England. She was head of household and a |In addition, four boarders who were listed as scholars, two of which were born in the West Indies; and two house servants, were also present. Rosetta M. CHEYNE was listed as living on her own means.. Also present were her children, Robert John Cheyne, Sybella A. M. Cheyne, Emily V. I. Cheyne and Amy E. F. Cheyne.7

Rosetta Mary Cheyne died 11 October 1899.8

Her estate was probated on 8 December 1899 at London, England.9
