They were married in the parish church. He was a bachelor, a lieutenant in the Royal Navy and resided at Arundel Terrace.3,4

He was head of household and a retired Commander Royal Navy. Also present was his child, Beatrice M. Cheyne. In addition, his brother-in-law, Charles H. Gardiner (11776), a visitor, Elizabeth Wright and servant Mary Ann Honey, were present.1

He was head of household and a retired Commander, Royal Navy. Also present were his children, Emma C. Cheyne, Beatrice M. Cheyne and Leo Cheyne. In addition, four boarders and a servant were also present.. He was 54 years old and born in Islington.7

John Powles Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated 17 November 1881, at New York, New York, USA. He was on a Manifest of Alien Passengers aboard the Victoria out of London. He was listed as Commander Cheyne, 65 years of age, (he would have been about 55). He was a British Subject.8
