Alexander Clark

     Alexander Clark was born, 26 January 1867, in New Pitsligo Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. No IGI baptismal record was found.¹

Alexander Clark and Margaret Gordon Davidson Clark were listed as children in the household of Thomas Clark on the 1871 British Census, at 91 High Street, in New Pitsligo, New Pitsligo Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was listed as 4 years of age and born in Tyrie Parish.²

Alexander Clark was listed as a grandson in the household of William Clark and his wife, Elizabeth Clark, on the 1881 British Census at Peathill, in Pitsligo Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was listed as 13 years of age, born in Pitsligo Parish and a scholar.³

Alexander Clark, Margaret Gordon Davidson Clark, Andrew Clark, Mary Martin Clark and Thomas Clark were listed as children in the household of Thomas Clark and his wife, Margaret Clark on the 1891 British Census, at Prince Street, Taylor's Buildings, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was listed as 24 years of age, born in New Pitsligo and a mason.⁴

Alexander Clark married Mary Jane Dow 13 October 1895, in accordance with the procedures of the Established Church of Scotland, at Dalrymple Cafe, in Fraserburgh, Fraserburgh Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Alexander was listed on the marriage record as 28 years of age, a journeyman mason and residing at 35 Saint Mary's Road, Fraserburgh, Fraserburgh Parish. His parents were confirmed to be as recorded herein.⁵

Alexander Clark and his wife Mary Ann Dow Clark were listed on the 1901 Scotland Census, at 84 Queen Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was head of household and a granite mason. Also present were his children, Margaret Gordon Davidson Clark. He was indexed as 54 years of age (should have been 34) and born in New Aberdour.⁶
