Alexander Cheyne and William Cheyne were listed as children in the household of Alexander Birnie Cheyne and his wife, Jane Cheyne on the 1861 Scotland Census, at 9 School Street, in Fraserburgh, Fraserburgh Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was listed as 3 and born in Fraserburgh Parish.²

Alexander was a witness at the marriage of, his brother, William Cheyne and Annie Angus, on 18 October 1882 at Fyvie Parish Church, at Fyvie Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; Church of Scotland.⁵

Alexander Cheyne married Ann Alexander 4 June 1884, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, at Hythie (Old Deer), in Kininmonth Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The marriage record listed him as 26 years old, a journeyman shoemaker residing at 51 High Street, Fraserburgh, Fraserburgh Parish. The ceremony was witnessed by his sister, Elspet Cheyne (315) and Kenneth Craig. His parents were confirmed to have been as recorded herein.⁶

Alexander Cheyne was named the father and closest relative of Jeannie Thom Cheyne on a passenger list dated 5 July 1925. He resided at Hazel Cottage, Hexagon, Fraserburgh.¹⁴
