     Arthur Boyes was born, about 1827, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The 1891 British Census had his place of birth as Saint Fergus Parish, Aberdeenshire (sic).1,2

Arthur Boyes married Helen Cheyne 24 June 1849, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Peterhead, 1820-1854, Page 194/446, "June 24th (1849) Arthur Boyes (3093), Farm-Servant, and Helen Cheyne (3092), both in this parish.”.3

Arthur Boyes and William Lucas were witnesses at the Christening of Hugh Clark, 15 August 1854, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Peterhead, 1833-1854, Page 419, "August 15th (1854) William Clark (3091), Labourer, Berryden and Elspet Cheyne (950), his wife, had a son born 8th, baptized and named Hugh (3376) before Arthur Boyes (3093) and William Lucas (4951).".4

Arthur Boyes, labourer, recorded the birth of his son, Alexander Urquhart Boyes, on 15 December 1859, in Auuchtygall, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland; at 2:00 PM.6

Also present were his children, Margaret Boyes, Arthur Boyes, James Boyes, William Boyes and Alexander Urquhart Boyes. He was listed as 33 years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.1

Arthur Boyes and his wife Helen Boyes were listed on the 1871 Scotland Census, in Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was head of household and a quarrier. Also present was his child, Alexander Urquhart Boyes. He was listed as 44 years old and born in Longside Parish.7

Arthur Boyes and his wife Helen Boyes were listed on the 1881 Scotland Census, in Mintlaw, Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was head of household and a crofter of ten acres all arable. Also present was his child, Margaret Boyes. In addition, his grandson, Arthur Boyes, was also present. Arthur and Helen's son, Arthur (3371), and his family were in the entry just before this one. The grandson, Arthur (12138), is assumed to have been the son of that Arthur Boyes.8

Arthur Boyes and his wife Helen Cheyne Boyes were listed on the 1891 Scotland Census, at Hillhead Cottage # 1, in Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was head of household and a quarry labourer. Arthur was 62 years of age and born in Saint Fergus Parish.2
