     Helen Cheyne was born, about 1818, in Cuminestown, Monquhitter Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. No IGI birth record was found. Helen Boyes MS Cheyne was listed on the 1881 and 1891 British Censuses as having been born in Cuminestown, Monquhitter, Aberdeen.^1,2,3

Helen Cheyne was listed on the 1841 Scotland Census at Keithen, in Monquhitter Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was in the household of Francis Howie, farmer. She was age 20, a farm servant and born in Aberdeenshire..⁴

Helen Cheyne married Arthur Boyes 24 June 1849, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Peterhead, 1820-1854, Page 194/446, "June 24th (1849) Arthur Boyes (3093), Farm-Servant, and Helen Cheyne (3092), both in this parish.”.⁵

Helen Boyes and her husband, Arthur Boyes, were listed on the 1861 Scotland Census, at Auchtygall, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their children were, Margaret Boyes, Arthur Boyes, James Boyes, William Boyes and Alexander Urquhart Boyes. She was listed as 40 years of age and born in Peterhead Parish.¹

Helen Boyes and her husband, Arthur Boyes, were listed on the 1871 Scotland Census, in Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their child was, Alexander Urquhart Boyes. She was listed as 32 years old and born in Monquhitter Parish.⁶

Helen Boyes and her husband, Arthur Boyes, were listed on the 1881 Scotland Census, in Mintlaw, Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Also present listed as their child was, Margaret Boyes.²

Helen Cheyne Boyes and her husband, Arthur Boyes, were listed on the 1891 Scotland Census, at Hillhead Cottage # 1, in Longside Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. They were listed as the head of household and wife. Helen Cheyne Boyes was 71 years of age and born in Cuminestown.³

Helen Cheyne was listed on the 1901 Scotland Census at 77 Rosemount Viaduct, in Aberdeen, Gilcomston, Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was a visitor in the household of Maggie Murray. Maggie Murray was probably related by marriage to James Murray (14390), Helen's nephew. Also a visitor in the household was an Arthur Boyes, 24, born Longside Parish, probably her grandson. Helen was listed as 82 years of age and born in Tarves Parish. At the same address was Margaret Cheyne (536) with some of her children.⁷ She died on 12 July 1910, of a broken leg, at 18 Urquhart Street at Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland.⁸
