Eva Alice Wheeler married Charles Cheyne.4

Mrs. E. A. Cheyne and Mr. C. Cheyne were found on a passenger list, dated 2 October 1893, at New York, New York, USA. Also present was their daughter Miss Cheyne. Traveling with them was Eva's mother Mrs. Wheeler. All were 1st Cabin passengers aboard the Berlin. They embarked at S'ampton (Southampton). He was an Army Lieutenant, 30 years of age, she was 29, wife, Mariot was 4, and Mrs. Wheeler, 59. All were citizens of England and had 9 pieces of luggage between them. All were in transit, but no indication as to where.3

Eva Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated April 1896, at Liverpool, Lancashire, England. Also present was her daughter Mariot G. Cheyne. They were cabin class passengers aboard the Vancouver out of New York. Eva was 33 and Mariot was 6. Both were marked as English.5

Eva Alice Cheyne and Reginald Edmondstone Cheyne was granted the probate of the estate of the deceased, Charles Cheyne, 22 September 1896. The will of Charles Cheyne was proved 22 September 1896. An abstract of it reads: "Cheyne Charles of Colorado Springs Colorado United States of America retired lieutenant Bengal staff corps died 1 March 1896 Probate London 22 September to Eva Alice Cheyne widow and Reginald Edmonstone Cheyne lieutenant in the Indian staff corps. Effects £1066 19s. 10d.".6

Eva Alice Cheyne and Florence H. O'Brien were listed as children in the household of Edith Wheeler on the 1901 Wales Census, at Min Avel, in Llanddudno Parish, Caernarvonshire, Wales. She was "living on own means" 37 years old, born in Australia, and married. Also present was her daughter, Mariot G.CHEYNE (2703), but not her husband, Charles.2
