     Charles Cheyne was born, 18 September 1865, in Ireland. [His parentage was documented in A. Y. Cheyne, The Cheyne Family in Scotland, page 146.2,3,4,5,6

Charles Cheyne was listed on the 1881 England Census at Royal Military College, in Sandhurst, Berkshire, England. He was listed as a Gentleman Cadet, unmarried, 17 years of age and born in Ireland.4

Charles Cheyne married Eva Alice Wheeler.2

Charles Cheyne was granted the probate of the estate of the deceased, Harriette Maria Cheyne, 12 October 1892. The will of Harriette Maria Cheyne was proved 12 October 1892. An abstract of which reads: "Cheyne Harriette Maria of Bedford widow died 9 February 1892 Probate London 12 October to Charles Cheyne gentleman. Effects £382 14s. 7d. resworn December 1892 £1371 0s. 5d.".7

Lieutenant Charles Cheyne retired from the Indian Staff Corps. His retirement was announced in the London Gazette, issue 26428, page 4 of 72, which reads: "The Queen has approved the retirement from the Service of the undermentioned officers: INDIAN STAFF CORPS Lieutenant Charles Cheyne, from the Half Pay List. Dated 1st August, 1893".8

Mr. C. Cheyne and Mrs. E. A. Cheyne were found on a passenger list, dated 2 October 1893, at New York, New York, USA. Also present was their daughter Miss Cheyne. Traveling with them was Eva's mother Mrs. Wheeler. All were 1st Cabin passengers aboard the Berlin. They embarked at S'ampton (Southampton). He was an Army Lieutenant, 30 years of age, she was 29, wife, Mariot was 4, and Mrs. Wheeler, 59. All were citizens of England and had 9 pieces of luggage between them. All were in transit, but no indication as to where.3

Charles Cheyne died 1 March 1896.9,6,10

Charles Cheyne was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, El Paso, Colorado, USA, He was described to have been with the Indian Army Staff Corp-14th PWO/W Yorkshire. His burial site is lot T-018..6,11

His estate was probated on 22 September 1896 at London, England.12
